Examinations and Awards Evening
A range of dance examinations, awards and medals are available for all pupils and students who wish to take them. We encourage everyone to get involved in exams, but appreciate that they are not for everyone. We feel that all the different types of exams are a positive way to move forwards with technique, develop confidence and enjoy the challenge of achieving the best every student can.
We offer at two or three IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) Examination Centres each year. IDTA exams are recognised Ofqual and The Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) and they attract points to add to UCAS scores.
The youngest children are supported through their first Rosette Awards with their teacher and as they grow and move through the grades the content difficult level increases up to Advanced Level exams – there’s something for everyone to work towards. The dedication and determination in working through these exams can often help in future, for example, in a job interview, as it shows strength and perseverance that is impressive. The confidence gained also stays with the dancer long term.
Once the results are received we organise an Awards and Demonstration Evening where pupils show their parents and family some of the work they did for their examinations and they are presented with their certificates and awards. This is always an enjoyable and positive celebration of their achievements.
